Joan Mitchell

Joan Mitchell was an American abstract expressionist painter born on February 12, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois.

A star of Abstract Expressionism at a time when female artists rarely achieved fame. Mitchell was a peer of Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, and has been exhibited in the Tate, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum.
