Mette Petri is a Danish Postwar and Contemporary artist, born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1957. She attended the Skolen for Brugskunst, Copenhagen and the Cooper Union in New York. She has exhibited at the Kunstindustrimuseet, Copenhagen, the Blicher Musset, Herning, the Bobby Greenfield Gallery, Los Angeles and the National Arts Club, New York.
She has stated, "It seems to me, that trying to say anything true or coherent about painting, is an almost impossible task, painting isn't logical; in fact it isn't logical at all. It exists outside the rules of logic and of reason to paint, I think, you have to be instinctive; you nee to listen to your intuition, to the way a color, a form, a texture feels inside you; and you have to follow that feeling as it articulates istelf on the canvs. There's no right or wrong, only a magical moment when this inexplicable thing, this part of you reches out to the canvs - for better or worse."
