Janaina Tschäpe

Janaina Tschäpe is a contemporary German-Brazilian artist known for her multidisciplinary approach to exploring themes of nature, femininity, and transformation. Born in Munich, Germany, in 1973, Tschäpe's upbringing in both Germany and Brazil deeply influenced her artistic perspective.

She studied at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg, Germany, and later pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Tschäpe's work spans various mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, and video, often blurring the boundaries between them. Her art is characterized by surreal, dreamlike imagery that transports viewers into otherworldly landscapes inhabited by mysterious, often aquatic, beings.
